In Sahih Bukhari there are Hadiths narrated by Sayyidah ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) regarding the final illness of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam).
In those Hadiths when she mentions that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) would go to the masjid supported by two men one of them she mentions as Sayyiduna ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) while the other person (who was Ali radiyallahu ‘anhu) she does not mention his name. She just says “another person”.
What was the reason for this?
Was it that she just did not know who the other person was?
The anwser is among the explanations given for this is that the person on the other side kept changing. Therefore Sayyidah ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu’anha) didn’t mention one particular person. Sayyiduna ‘Abbas (radiyallahu’anhu) was given more opportunity to support Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) on the one side due to his closeness and seniority.
